Plant the Moon Challenge: “Elizabeth Goes to Mars” Live Excerpt Reading

April 14, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm PDT

Join the Plant the Moon Challenge and our guest host, author Betty R. Robison as she reads an excerpt from her breakout children’s book, “Elizabeth Goes to Mars.”

In August 2021, we will be doing a giveaway of 5 hard copies of her book to five K-8th grade Plant the Moon Challenge team participants!

About the Book

Elizabeth is a precocious middle-school-age student who loves science.

In Elizabeth Goes to Mars! she is watching a TV interview about going to Mars and falls asleep. She starts dreaming of an actual trip to Mars. Her adventure with her dog, Rigel, reflects just a few of the challenges we will face if we want to live on Mars. This book is intended to support a grade school science curriculum that includes a unit on space. Readers will learn how different Mars and Earth are. They will also be introduced to some of the many technologies needed to travel to Mars, grow plants, prepare foods, obtain water, and more.

From the Author

“I am a lifelong learner and science student. I have been an amateur astronomer and active member of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada for many years. My profession as an educational science editor sparked an interest in writing. Elizabeth Goes to Mars!, my third book, is the first in my Elizabeth series. “
